I am one of those people that hates the dentist, I cry when I get to the waiting room, I cry throughout the check up, I cry when I am told that I need to come back for treatment and I cry when I have to pay. I have always been the same and that is why I put off going to the dentist for just over 4years!
I had joined Stukeley Road Dental Centre in Huntingdon, I had been their twice and I had check ups, but they wanted me to have fillings so I decided I would just not go.
Four years later, my front tooth had started crumbling away, it had a little whole in it and people kept telling me I had food in my tooth (as that was what it looked like), it was really embarrassing so when a second tooth got a whole I decided that I had to grow up and go to the dentist again.
When I called up the receptionist told me they were not taking on any new patients (which I now was as I hadn’t been for two years) but she would speak to my dentist and see what he said. I was thrilled when they said yes and a few days later I had my first teary eyed appointment.
Dr Kordnay was so lovely, he told me off for not going back and seemed to have taken it personally that I had ‘run away from him’, I explained that I had been scared and was sorry. He completed the check up and informed me I would need some fillings and he would contact the hospital about two teeth I needed to be taken out.
I went back a few days later and saw the hygienist (as recommended) and the dentist and had one large filling with a numb mouth due to injection. Dr Kordnay was friendly throughout, he explained that the holes in the teeth were due to fizzy drinks (I was drinking 2-3 cans of fizzy drinks a day).
I told him about how much I was drinking and he told me about his family, a cousin that lives in America and a fizzy drink related story. Dr Kordnay could not have been friendlier and he really made me feel relaxed, so much so that the filling was over and done with quicker than I realised.
When I went back he filled in the front tooth, the colour that the Dental Nurse chose was an exact match to my tooth colour – I was so impressed, you can hardly see where the filling has been done and I keep showing it off to all of my friends.
While at this appointment the Dental Nurse told me that the Hygienist was free next week for my second appointment but I said it was awkward for me as I have to book a half day off for a dentist appointment so ideally it would need to fit in with the second appointment would need to fit with that to save my holiday.
The Dental Nurse told me that the Dentist was fully booked that day and then Dr Kordnay said he would work through lunch to fit me in. I was so impressed with that customer service. I really thought this was so helpful of him.
This dental surgery are now taking on new patients so if you are looking for an excellent service from a really good dentist may I suggest you try Stukeley Road Dental Centre. I am sure you will be as impressed as I was.
